As the Senior Officer Discovery at the University of Melbourne, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring seamless access to the university's vast library resources. You'll have the opportunity to work with a variety of library systems, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to projects that enhance the user experience for students and researchers. Your role will directly impact the accessibility of information, making this a key position for those passionate about library technology and information science.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage Library Systems: Provide operational and technical support for a range of library systems, including OpenAthens authentication, Library Services Platform that support acquisitions, catalouging, eresources, fullfillment library website, and search and discovery platforms.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Investigate and solve system-related problems, ensuring minimal disruption to user access.
- Enhance User Experience: Contribute to projects aimed at improving the discoverability and accessibility of library collections.
- Provide Expert Support: Assist end-users and staff with system-related queries, applying judgment to select appropriate solutions.

You are a tech-savvy professional with a strong understanding of library systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for enhancing information accessibility in an academic setting.
You may also:
- Have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or extensive experience in library systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of information systems that manage collections, provide access, or aid information discovery.
- Show experience in applying industry best practices to support operational goals and deliver quality system experiences.
- Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly for complex technical issues.
