As a Program Support Officer in the Researcher Development Unit, you'll be at the heart of supporting academic growth at the University of Melbourne. You'll gain invaluable experience in coordinating professional development programs, managing events, and providing crucial administrative support. This role offers you the chance to directly impact the development of researchers at all career stages while working in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate Research Development Programs: Provide administrative and operational support for RDU programs, ensuring smooth execution of in-person and online sessions.
- Manage Event Logistics: Organise, set up, and attend program sessions, maintaining attendance records and managing Canvas LMS enrolments.
- Enhance Participant Experience: Support a high-quality experience through email correspondence and assist with promotional activities for program sessions.
- Collaborate Across the University: Attend meetings as an RDU representative and work respectfully with academics and professional staff at all levels.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a well-organised and adaptable professional with strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic environment.
You may also:
- Have completed a degree with relevant experience or possess an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Have familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems.
- Be flexible in your availability to accommodate variable program and event schedules.

The RDU is part of the Chancellery Research and Enterprise Portfolio within the Chancellery Division of the University. Led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Chancellery Research & Enterprise develops and oversees the research agenda at the University and works in partnership with Academic Divisions to achieve the University’s ensuring research is conducted to the highest ethical standards and with a commitment to excellence.
