Freedom of Information Analyst

This role drives excellence in university information governance, wielding expertise in Freedom of Information. As a strategic analyst, you'll champion best practice openness and transparency, supporting robust frameworks and tackling complex assignments. You'll forge impactful partnerships across academic and chancellery divisions, delivering exceptional, responsive service and shaping the future of information integrity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing complex FOI cases end-to-end, ensuring strict compliance with legislation and deadlines.
  • Providing expert FOI advice and training, driving continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Overseeing compliance and quality assurance, aligning with university risk management frameworks.
  • Supporting the broader goals of the Information Governance Services team.
  • Representing the Legal and Risk team, fostering collaboration and obtaining 360-degree feedback.

You may be a great fit if:

You possess a strong service ethic, placing the employer's interests first and excelling in collaborative environments. You are a domestic FOI expert, capable of translating complex legislation into practical solutions, and adept at streamlining processes through business analysis. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, coupled with strong organisational abilities, allow you to manage sensitive information and meet deadlines independently or as part of a team. Ideally, you will also bring experience in privacy and data protection, alongside an understanding of the University's structure and strategic goals.

You may also:

  • Have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and extensive experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • Have business analysis and process mapping skills and a demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify complex methods or concepts.
  • Bring expert knowledge of domestic legislation and practices regarding FOI and the ability to translate this knowledge into practical advice, tools and programs.
