As an Academic Skills Adviser at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing students' language, academic, and professional skills. You'll have the opportunity to design and deliver curriculum-embedded workshops, create online learning resources, and provide individual tuition. Working collaboratively across the university, you'll contribute to innovative educational practices that support student progress, employability, and connection to the university community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering learning programs: Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate curriculum-embedded workshops and co-curricular learning programs to enhance students’ language, academic and professional skills.
- Creating engaging online resources: Utilise educational technologies to design and develop interactive, accessible, student-centred online learning materials.
- Providing expert guidance: Offer individual tuition that fosters students’ independence and self-direction.
- Collaborating across departments: Work with colleagues in Chancellery, faculties, and Student and Scholarly Services to enhance integrated skill development offerings.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced educator with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, possessing a strong background in teaching academic and language skills to diverse student cohorts in a university setting.
You may also:
- Have postgraduate qualifications in applied linguistics, education, TESOL, or a related field.
- Possess experience in coordinating curricular and co-curricular programs at a tertiary level.
- Be skilled in using educational technologies and online learning platforms.
- Have knowledge of current trends in higher education learning and teaching.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Be highly organised with a commitment to continuous improvement and creative problem-solving.
