About the Role
Join a dedicated team at the Melbourne Medical School and play a role in shaping the next generation of doctors. As an Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Medical Education (Professional Practice), you will contribute to the Professional Practice (PP) stream—a distinctive, vertically integrated curriculum that runs across all four years of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

Professional Practice is at the core of medical professionalism, equipping students with essential skills in ethics, law, professional identity formation, teamwork, wellbeing, collaborative practice, and reflective practice. PP ensures MD students develop into well-rounded, capable healthcare professionals.

As a key member of the MD teaching and learning team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the PP stream. Depending on your level of appointment, you will contribute to curriculum development, tutor recruitment and support, and professional development for facilitators—helping to create an engaging and impactful learning experience for students.

If you are committed to fostering excellence in medical education, we encourage you to apply.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively engage in and support the activities and discussions of the Professional Practice educator’s community of practice, including but not limited to facilitator briefings (e.g. lead weekly in-person, Parkville based, MD1 briefings) or online discussions which support the knowledge and teaching practice of the facilitator group (e.g. Microsoft Teams)
  • Contribute to selection, recruitment and retention of PP tutors/facilitator teams, working alongside professional and academic staff to achieve this
  • Contribute to/lead the revision and update of PP program materials (including facilitator notes, tutorial plans and assessment design)
  • Contribute to occasional delivery of lectures and workshops (i.e. interprofessional workshops, welcome lectures, panel discussions)
