Policy & Governance Officer

Salary: UOM 7 – $106,432 - $115,211 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role 
The Policy and Governance Officer is a key i role supporting the implementation of academic policies and governance within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS). This role provides policy advice, governance support for learning and teaching committees, and contributes to academic program reviews and improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of university legislation and policy frameworks to enhance quality learning and teaching across the faculty. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Support learning and teaching committees and working groups in exercising their roles and responsibilities, including the provision of agendas, coordination of papers and reports, preparation of minutes, and drafting of committee and working group outputs; 
  • Interpret, apply, and explain policies and complex rules arising from university legislation and government standards and frameworks; 
  • Provide advice to the MDHS community on governance policy and matters, in particular on the role of the governing bodies and their committees and on the interpretation and application of University legislation, policy and protocols; 

Who We Are Looking For 
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. They will demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities, along with a high level of attention to detail in managing complex information, policies, and projects. With strong organisational and administrative skills, they will efficiently prioritise tasks, work both independently and within a team, and adapt to new systems and technologies  

You will also have: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training 
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting, applying and explaining policies, guidelines, procedures and complex rules 
  • Demonstrated high-level written and spoken communication skills, including experience drafting, or contributing to the drafting of reports, papers, and compliance reporting 
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
