Your next career opportunity

As a Senior Lawyer in our MDHS Legal team, you will provide expert legal guidance on complex research collaborations of many different types and support commercialisation and research translation activities in the medical and life sciences field. You will work with leading researchers and academics to help achieve the University’s strategic aims.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Complex Legal Matters: Provide high-quality, commercially focussed legal advice and drafting in relation to research collaborations of multiple types, commercialisation or research translation focussed projects and transactions (including spin outs, start-ups, joint ventures and industry partnerships).
  • Manage Stakeholder Relationships: You will have exceptional stakeholder relationship management skills and will engage effectively and with high levels of autonomy with internal and external stakeholders, from senior academics and researchers to industry partners.
  • Mentor and Lead: As part of a highly collegiate team, you will have opportunities to coach team members and play a leadership role within the Legal Services team.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced lawyer with expertise in intellectual property, IP commercialisation transactions, and research collaborations, particularly in the university or medical sectors.

 You should:

  • Have considerable expertise in intellectual property licensing and IP commercialisation transactions
  • Have general corporate and commercial law expertise - M&A experience and /or experience in supporting and advising on start up related activity would be particularly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and support large scale, complex projects and transactions.
  • Demonstrate superior communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Be adept at working autonomously but with high levels of collegiality, and exercise sound judgment with respect to identification of risk and when to escalate to the Legal Director and General Counsel
