Your next career opportunity
You will have the opportunity to lead a team of software engineers, driving innovation in research computing services. You'll manage development activities, prioritise projects, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver critical integrations. Your leadership will be instrumental in implementing a 2-year strategic plan and fostering team growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and Inspire a Development Team: Manage and motivate a team of software engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Implement and deliver against a 2-year plan, aligning team deliverables with RCS strategic goals
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead structured forums and meetings to understand integration needs and drive collaborative development
  • Enhance Development Practices: Take ownership of the software development lifecycle, driving continuous improvement in processes and practices

You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced software development leader with a strong background in team management, agile methodologies, and stakeholder engagement, capable of driving innovation in research computing services.

You may also:

  • Have tertiary qualifications in Science, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
  • Possess demonstrated experience in leading software development teams and driving innovation
  • Have expertise in agile methodologies and facilitating agile ceremonies
  • Be proficient with Python and the Django framework
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Your new team – Research Computing Services
Research Computing Services (RCS) is a department within Business Services. RCS delivers the digital research infrastructure and services for researchers at The University of Melbourne. RCS operate on- premise High-Performance Computing (HPC), Cloud Computing and General-Purpose Graphical Processing Unit (GPGPU) computational platforms. RCS operate over 20 PB of research data storage to enable data-driven research and collaboration and a range of data management services and provide a range of consultation services to support the development of custom computation and data management solutions. RCS also contributes to the national eResearch infrastructure initiative the ARDC’s Nectar Research Cloud and facilitate access to Australia’s national supercomputer facility NCI.
