About the Role
The Program Manager, Research Data Management (Parental Leave Cover) will oversee initiatives within the University’s research data management strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and protecting high-risk research data assets. The role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders across faculties and key business units, as well as engaging with external agencies to improve digital research infrastructure, policies, and services, supporting the University’s leading research capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and minimise risks associated with research data.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to implement solutions across infrastructure, policy, governance, and service models for efficient research data management.
  • Driving academic culture change through strategic engagement and capability development initiatives to improve research data practices.
  • Providing expert advice on national and international trends, ensuring the University remains compliant and sector-leading in research data management.

Who we are looking for

You will have experience working in a large, complex organisation (preferably within the higher education sector), developing and implementing effective solutions, policies, and processes to drive organisational change. You will also have a proven ability to exercise strong analytical and problem-solving skills to create and implement innovative strategies, alongside excellent relationship-building skills, providing high-level advice to senior stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • A postgraduate research qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Experience in research data management, having worked as a researcher, research data manager, research data repository manager, or in a similar role.
  • Extensive understanding of relevant information and data governance principles and standards, such as the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement of Ethical Conduct in Human Research.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
