Your next career opportunity
We are seeking a creative communications coordinator to help shape an outstanding student experience in the Faculty of Science. In this role, you will lead the development of communication and engagement strategies that connect, support, and inspire our diverse student community throughout their academic journey.

Reporting to the Manager, Student Experience and Communications, you will play a key role in designing and delivering student-facing initiatives that enhance belonging and participation—particularly for under-represented cohorts. You will collaborate with students to co-create content and experiences, and play a key role in evaluating engagement programs and using feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Working closely with staff across the Faculty and University, you will take the lead on crafting key messages, managing communications channels, and supporting enrichment programs.

If you are passionate about building vibrant student communities and love bringing stories, events, and experiences to life through communications, we would love to hear from you.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all student-facing communication channels, particularly websites, newsletters and social media.
  • In collaboration with students and SAS team members, develop a faculty specific student communications plan designed to build engagement, improve participation and connect with the broader student cohort.
  • Support the team to improve student engagement communication practices and processes, with a commitment to evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
  • Consistently analyse information and data to facilitate effective reporting and feed into enhancement of student engagement activities.
  • Lead and support student-focused programs, using insights and feedback to evaluate outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Proactively update and monitor the performance of the Faculty’s student facing website, newsletter and social media channels.
  • Work collaboratively to support the design, implementation and success of student focussed events and programs delivered by the Faculty of Science.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a skilled communications professional with experience developing content and delivering campaigns across both digital and traditional platforms. With strong writing and editing skills, you produce clear, engaging communications and confidently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you have an eye for visual media, with experience using design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, and a working knowledge of web CMS and social media channels. You also bring experience managing student programs and are comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students. Adaptable and quick to learn, you thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.

You may also:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, and experience within a communications focused role, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience, education and/or training.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of communication initiatives and solutions across traditional and/or digital channels.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible and proactive approach in a busy work environment with strong skills in prioritising tasks across multiple projects and events, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with or managing student-facing programs, ideally in a university or education context.
  • Excellent information technology skills, including experience with web content management systems and social channels.
