As a Finance Officer at the prestigious Peter Doherty Institute, you'll play a crucial role in managing finances for cutting-edge international health projects and pandemic research. You'll oversee budgets for DFAT-funded initiatives across Asia and the Pacific, as well as the innovative Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics. This role offers you the chance to apply your financial expertise to projects with global impact, working with diverse international partners in a dynamic research environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Financial Planning and Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, comparing actual performance against budgets and forecasts for international projects.
- Budget Management: Track and monitor budgets across all project activities, ensuring financial alignment and sustainability for global health initiatives.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis to assess performance, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to support project success.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project teams and international partners to address financial issues and ensure smooth project implementation

You are a detail-oriented finance professional possessing strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex financial portfolios for international projects in a dynamic research environment.
You may also:
- Have graduate qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Possess experience working in a tertiary institution.
- Demonstrate expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and managing financial portfolios for individual projects.
- Excel at generating timely, customised reports for management on budgets, actuals, and forecasts.
- Have advanced skills in Excel and experience with accounting systems.
- Be an excellent communicator, able to work effectively in project teams.
- Thrive in complex environments, with a high level of attention to detail.
