Your next career opportunity
As Manager of the Melbourne Social Equity Institute, you will provide operational leadership and strategic support to advance the Institute’s goals. Working closely with the Director, you will oversee day-to-day operations, drive strategic initiatives, and facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations both within the University and with external partners. This senior professional role requires a proactive and highly organised approach to managing staff, finances, stakeholder relationships, and key projects, ensuring the Institute continues to deliver impactful research and engagement activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing operations and strategic initiatives – Leading the development and implementation of operational plans, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with University policies while supporting the Director in identifying and advancing strategic opportunities.
- Managing people and resources – Supervising professional staff, coordinating recruitment and development, and ensuring the efficient delivery of research, communications, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Facilitating interdisciplinary research collaborations – Liaising with researchers, faculties, external organisations, and key stakeholders to enable partnerships, foster knowledge exchange, and enhance research impact.
- Enhancing communication and engagement – Overseeing MSEI’s communications, events, and external relations, ensuring alignment with the Institute’s mission and strategic objectives.

You may also:
- A relevant undergraduate qualification and proven expertise in operations management and strategy development, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated experience in managing finances, staff, and resources within a university or similarly complex environment.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse audiences, write persuasively, and deliver public presentations.
- A thorough understanding of university administrative policies and procedures, particularly those relating to research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
