Your next career opportunity
As an Early Childhood Language Teacher specialising in Mandarin at the University of Melbourne's Queensberry Children's Centre, you'll play a crucial role in shaping young minds through innovative language education. You'll have the opportunity to implement the Department of Education funded Early Childhood Language program, embedding Mandarin learning into everyday activities for 4-year-old kindergarten students. Your expertise will contribute to creating a rich, multilingual learning environment that prepares children for a global future.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Language Curriculum: Plan and implement an exemplary early childhood Mandarin language program that aligns with national and state frameworks.
  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Use intentional teaching approaches to build vocabulary and understanding through play and everyday routines.
  • Collaborate with Educators: Work closely with other early childhood professionals to ensure continuity in the kindergarten program and language learning.
  • Evaluate and Reflect: Consistently assess the program's effectiveness and child outcomes, driving continuous improvement in teaching practices.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a passionate early childhood educator with native or near-native Mandarin proficiency, committed to creating engaging, developmentally appropriate language learning experiences for young children.

You may also:

  • Have an approved early childhood teacher degree or higher qualification recognised by ACECQA.
  • Possess current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration.
  • Demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin.
  • Have completed Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting training.
