Your next career opportunity
The Senior Lecturer in Periodontics is an education-focused role providing academic and clinical leadership in periodontics training within the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DCD) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) programs. This position involves teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, and mentoring academic and clinical colleagues to ensure high-quality education and training. The role is integral to advancing periodontics and contributing to the School’s strategic goals, requiring specialist dental qualifications and AHPRA registration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and delivery of teaching with contemporary pedagogical insights to achieve a high standard of teaching satisfaction in our entry to practice degree programs and continuing professional development (CPD) courses offered by the School.
  • Regularly contribute and lead curriculum development, assessment and evaluation renewal and redesign in consultation with relevant academic and professional staff in the School.
  • Engage with relevant professional and industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
  • Participate in continued professional development in learning and teaching as identified to enable you to fulfill your position requirements.

You may also:

  • A completed specialist dental qualification (or equivalent) in Periodontics or Periodontology with the ability to register with the Dental Board of Australia through APHRA (with no current or prior notifications).
  • Extensive clinical experience in Periodontics.
  • Experience in clinical teaching in dentistry and demonstrated ability for excellence in clinical teaching including the capacity to initiate and develop course development and teaching materials.
  • An ability to explore new educational methods to improve teaching and learning and student learning capabilities.

Your New Team – Melbourne Dental School
The Melbourne Dental School has a strong tradition in dental research and an established international reputation in several research areas. Research in the School is an integral component of staff and student activities underpinning both the undergraduate and graduate curricula.
