About the Role
The Director of Seedkit will lead the strategic and operational development of this innovative not-for-profit digital platform, designed to empower social enterprises and for-purpose organisations in measuring and communicating their social impact. Reporting to Professor Jo Barraket AM and working in close collaboration with the Melbourne Social Equity Institute, the Director will navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of a social start-up. This includes driving user engagement and onboarding, refining platform functionality, and securing investment to ensure Seedkit’s sustainable growth. The role demands a dynamic and adaptable leader with a proven ability to manage complex projects, engage a diverse range of stakeholders across sectors, and contribute to the broader social enterprise ecosystem. With a supportive and collegial team environment, the Director will play a pivotal role in realising Seedkit’s ambitious vision for positive societal change.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the strategic and operational development of Seedkit, including enhancing user experience, expanding functionality, and scaling the platform’s applications to meet stakeholder needs.
- Driving user engagement by overseeing onboarding, user support, and testing activities, while fostering strong relationships with social enterprises, funders, and other for-purpose organisations.
- Securing additional investment and developing a sustainable operating model through collaborative fundraising efforts with Professor Jo Barraket and key partners.
- Managing and supporting a small, dedicated team to deliver project outcomes, ensuring agility in response to dynamic demands, and maintaining excellence in all aspects of Seedkit’s operations.

Your ability to navigate complex challenges with creativity and strategic insight will be instrumental in achieving Seedkit’s ambitious vision.
You also have:
- A postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience in social impact, evaluation studies, management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise and leadership in one or more of the following areas: social enterprise operations, social impact measurement and evaluation, or technology-driven solutions for social change.
- A proven record of success in establishing and/or developing social enterprises or other for-purpose ventures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in managing complex projects or start-up initiatives and delivering effective, practical solutions.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
