About the Role
This exciting role champions a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with University OH&S policies and developing tailored procedures for your department. You will provide expert guidance to staff and collaborate closely with stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of the academic program. This dynamic position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external partners to achieve the highest safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement effective risk assessments and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and University policies.
  • Providing high-quality health and safety services to faculty and departments, including monitoring service requests, supporting program implementation, and conducting regular program evaluations.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of health and safety programs by participating in projects, audits, and initiatives, and by analysing data to identify areas for enhancement.


Who we are looking for
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) professional with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with stakeholders across a creative arts environment. Proven experience in developing and implementing OHS programs, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining accurate records is essential.

You will also have:

  • The appointee will have a minimum of Certificate 4 in Health and Safety, and/or substantial relevant experience in related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety and environmental legislation, Regulations and Codes in Victoria and relevant Australian standards and the ability to apply these to a complex organisation.
  • Developed organisational skills and capability for multi-tasking and prioritisation, problem solving and effective time management.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
