About the Role
The Senior Adviser, Careers and Employability provides high-quality learning support and tailored advice to enhance students’ career planning and employability skills through individual guidance and group-learning initiatives. The role designs, delivers, and evaluates programs for diverse student cohorts, ensuring inclusivity and alignment with industry and academic needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • The Senior Adviser, Careers and Employability provides high-quality learning support and tailored advice to enhance students’ career planning and employability skills through individual guidance and group-learning initiatives. The role designs, delivers, and evaluates programs for diverse student cohorts, ensuring inclusivity and alignment with industry and academic needs. Collaborating with Student Success, Academic Divisions, and enrichment groups, the position fosters engagement, leadership, and employability outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of careers and employability central service programs and activities; focusing on enabling students to access, prepare and make the most of opportunities to build employability and supporting their career planning, transition and workplace readiness.
  • Liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders on the provision of targeted support and programs for assigned cohorts that, where possible, are relevant to stage of study and discipline and / or industry sector.
  • Deliver learning support programming through group, one on one and online modes to enable students to fully leverage opportunities for career and employability development (self-awareness and knowledge, skills development, and presentation of self).


Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, building strong relationships with diverse groups, including international students and University stakeholders. With a client-centred approach, they thrive in a dynamic service environment, excel in time management and organisational skills, and deliver responsive services, supported by outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and / or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a service environment with a theoretical and practical knowledge of careers and employability program delivery, including individual advising and group learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and workshop facilitation, with the ability to engage the audience across multiple modes of delivery, including group and virtual interaction.
  • Proven ability to learn and implement new systems and procedures, with experience in contributing to process improvement.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
