About the Role
As the Senior Exhibitions Coordinator, you’ll be instrumental in delivering the Cultural Commons' strategic vision. Working within the Museums and Collections Department, you’ll lead the production of exhibitions, ensuring they are innovative, impactful, and executed to the highest standards. This role offers an opportunity to foster an inclusive workplace while collaborating with Australia’s First Peoples to ensure diverse cultural perspectives are embedded in all aspects of the work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate project teams to deliver high-quality, multidisciplinary exhibitions, driving timelines, budgets and contract administration to ensure seamless execution.
- Operational Excellence and Production: Maintain and implement best-practice production and operational systems, ensuring projects meet compliance, sustainability and artistic standards.
- Team Management: Recruit, roster, and manage installation technical staff, fostering a cohesive and productive work environment.
- Health & Safety: Develop and conduct inductions and risk assessments, ensuring all projects adhere to OHS requirements.
- Collaboration & Inclusion: Work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative manner with Indigenous colleagues and embedding diverse perspectives into all initiatives.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised project or production manager with a proven track record of success in delivering high-quality exhibitions within the cultural sector. Ideal candidates will possess strong project management skills, including budget management, risk mitigation, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams. Experience in museum, gallery, or live performance environments is essential, along with a proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
You will also have:
- Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline and / or an equivalent mix of education and extensive relevant experience.
- A record of success in planning and delivering exhibitions and events in museum, gallery and live performance environments.
- Significant experience in budget planning, management and evaluation.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
