About the Role
Senior Lecturer at the Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre (AERC) presents an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished academic to shape the future of teaching, research, and practice in evaluation and assessment. Central to this position is a commitment to delivering inspiring teaching within the Master of Evaluation program, equipping students with the expertise and skills to lead in their fields. The appointee will engage in high-calibre research, leading innovative, large-scale projects with national and international reach. Collaborating with a progressive team of scholars, practitioners, and globally renowned academics, the Senior Lecturer will contribute to advancing the Centre’s reputation for excellence. The role encompasses supervision of postgraduate and research students, stakeholder engagement, and strategic leadership in securing funding and delivering impactful outputs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and seminars while designing and reviewing curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Coordinating subjects, supervising sessional staff, conducting assessments, and providing feedback to support students’ academic progress.
  • Leading proposals, grants, and tenders while planning research and producing impactful publications.

Who We Are Looking For
You are a distinguished scholar with a strong record of published work in reputable international journals and a portfolio of significant scholarly contributions. As an excellent communicator and teacher, you demonstrate proven success in tertiary-level teaching, particularly in the fields of evaluation and assessment. Your expertise includes a robust focus on quantitative research, encompassing causal modelling, evaluative modelling, educational economics, and mixed-method approaches, complemented by proficiency in qualitative data collection and analysis. With a demonstrated ability to secure Tier 1 research funding, you bring experience in leading complex projects, producing high-quality reports, and advancing the field through innovative methodologies and impactful findings. Your capacity to analyse and interpret data to inform evidence-based conclusions will be matched by your skill in mentoring colleagues and engaging diverse stakeholders.

You also have:

  • A PhD level qualification in Education, Economics, Psychology, Health, or other relevant field, including a specialisation in the field of Evaluation and/or Assessment.
  • High-level experience with quantitative software packages (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, or Stata).
  • Demonstrated capacity in the supervision of higher degree students.
  • The ability to promote the work of the AERC in the academy, with government stakeholders, individual organisations, professional groups, and the community.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
