About the Role
This role focuses on advancing precision medicine by leveraging next-generation sequencing, whole-genome analysis, and liquid biopsy technologies to match therapies to patients effectively. Working within the innovative Illumina partnership, you will utilise aseptic techniques and fine pipetting to support cutting-edge research and diagnostics. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to transformative healthcare solutions through technology-driven approaches.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing DNA and RNA from various tissue (i.e. blood, fresh, frozen, FFPE) sources
  • Analyse and interpret genetic data using software assisted analysis tools and report on results as required.
  • Maintain documentation of standard operation procedures in accordance with ISO15189 requirements and ensure that documented laboratory protocols are precisely followed.
  • Participate in continuing education activities in the Centre for Cancer Research and external training sessions.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills, and a commitment to precision in repetitive and meticulous tasks. They demonstrate eagerness to learn, adaptability to new challenges, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team

You will also have:

  • An Honours/Masters or PhD degree in relevant area such as genomics, molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry or equivalent and experience in molecular diagnostics laboratory.
  • Demonstrable high level of technical competency and molecular analyses with large scale next generation sequencing.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently complete repetitive tasks in a timely manner with precision and accuracy.
  • High-level problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to exercise judgement, initiative and communicate to team and researchers using well developed communication skills.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
