About the Role

The Associate Director, Enterprise Portfolio Performance plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of strategic initiatives. This position focuses on establishing and managing a new Program and Project Delivery Assurance function, empowering project managers with best practices and tools, and enhancing portfolio management standards. Reporting to the Director of Capital Investments & EPMO, the role collaborates closely with embedded PMOs, senior stakeholders, and governance forums, driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights and maintaining the integrity of enterprise-wide strategic planning and reporting processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving continuous improvement by refining processes, tools, and templates for resource management, risk, change, and benefits tracking.
  • Overseeing quality assurance reviews, ensuring consistent adoption of enterprise standards and methodologies across portfolios.
  • Identifying and recommending solutions to improve efficiency and reduce program/project development and delivery costs and realise benefits.


Who we are looking for

You will be a seasoned leader capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the University, with experience in large-scale PMOs and the ability to work in complex environments. Your expertise will include leading a variety of multi-stream programs across diverse portfolios, driving continuous improvement in EPMO operations, and managing Centres of Excellence supporting portfolio management. With a background in Lean, Agile, and traditional methodologies, you will bring strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to guide teams and engage senior stakeholders to support strategic outcomes.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications such as B. Comm/Accounting, or MBA (highly regarded) and at least 10 years relevant experience in similar roles (gained through large scale EPMOs in private or public sector environments). 
  • Understanding of the academic and strategic needs supporting a complex and diverse organisation covering Education, Research and Enterprise functions. 
  • High-level analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills with an ability to display sound initiative and identify and provide effective solutions to issues as they arise.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Corporate Development (CD) team is responsible for ensuring that the University’s property, infrastructure, and financial assets/liabilities enable strategy & provide a meaningful competitive advantage. The CD team’s key activities include strategy, planning and performance of the University’s estate, investment in and development of real property, capital planning and associated investment processes, enterprise portfolio management monitoring and reporting, oversight of financial investment portfolios, treasury and financial risk management, debt and commercial arrangement advisory and execution, sustainability strategy development, planning and reporting.
