About the Role
The Senior Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software in the Enterprise Applications DevOps Team. This includes system analysis, programming, database design, testing, and continuous improvement of applications.

Working independently, the developer also supports junior team members and handles 2nd and 3rd level system support. Strong technical expertise, experience with ITIL processes, and excellent communication are essential for success in this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing software applications independently and collaboratively, utilising common frameworks and CI/CD processes, ensuring alignment with functional requirements and security principles
  • Creating automated testing scripts and ensure applications are monitored, available, and functioning as required, working closely with Enterprise Technology teams
  • Participating in Agile practices, contributing to documentation, training materials, and team knowledge sharing, while identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Mentoring new team members, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with University risk management and OH&S requirements

Who we are looking for
You will have strong organiastional skills, be able to manage competing priorities with urgency and attention to detail, and meet deadlines effectively. Your excellent problem-solving abilities allow you to analyse production incidents and collaborate with a team of experts to resolve them. Strong verbal and written communication across all levels of the organisation is essential, along with experience in writing and maintaining operational documentation for application support.

You will also have:

  • A postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Strong technical expertise with broad and in-depth knowledge and skills in multiple technology sets including but not limited to Python (Django/Flask), Microsoft Power Platform and Power Apps, Java, .NET, React/Angular, Javascrip/JQuery/CSS/HTML, SQL, PHP, Object Oriented Programming, AWS
  • Experience in the configuration and operation of DevOps CI/CD and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools and processes including Github/Gitlab, Docker/Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps and Rancher

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
