About the Role
The Melbourne PX4 Health Research Initiative seeks a Research Assistant (Registered Nurse) to support its interdisciplinary precision health research. Reporting to the MPP Academic Lead and Research Coordinator, this role involves participant recruitment, data collection, and ensuring participant experience. Responsibilities include biophysical sample collection and conducting surveys/interviews, with comprehensive training provided for specialized procedures. This position offers a 12-month professional development opportunity, expanding clinical and technical research skills within a values-based culture of innovation and excellence at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform role and all research activity in accordance with the relevant study protocol, SOPs, HREC approval, and the NHMRC National Statement.
  • Undertake necessary professional development activities and training (as directed by the AL/RC) to achieve competence in the collection of biophysical specimens and measurments relevant to the MPP, and the safe occupation of the dedicated facility (Participant Assessment Researh Centre [PARC]) in Carlton.
  • Conduct recruitment of study participants (inclusive of addressing questions, collection of informed consent, completion of relevant paperwork and reporting)

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, efficiently managing their time and demonstrating initiative and independent judgment while engaging with diverse stakeholders. They will have high-level oral and written communication abilities, an approachable demeanor, and extensive clinical experience, particularly in venipuncture, ECG, and blood pressure measurement.

You will also have:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in nursing, paramedicine, or related discipline.
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent postgraduate clinical (or other relavent) experience
  • Ability to handle situations that require initiative, independent judgement, and consultation with senior stakeholders.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
