About the Role
The STEM Careers and Programs Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the professional and employability skills of Science students within the Faculty of Science. Reporting to the Manager, Careers and Industry, this role develops and delivers innovative career enrichment programs, industry engagement opportunities, and professional skills curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Through collaboration with academic staff, industry partners, and University stakeholders, the Coordinator ensures students are prepared to make a meaningful impact in STEM fields.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop the framework, content, delivery methods, and facilitate career focused programs, activities and workshops.
- Assist students with Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) application processes, including resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation and advising on program suitability to ensure alignment with academic and career goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the design, implementation, and program administration of an evidence-based, innovative program focused on professional skill enhancement and career-related outcomes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key STEM industry stakeholders and professional bodies to continually ensure offerings align with existing and emerging industry expectations, needs, and standards.
Who We Are Looking For
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and learning materials. With highly developed interpersonal skills, you will confidently collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including external vendors, and work flexibly within a core team of six, contributing to the success of a broader group. Your ability to adapt to changing demands ensures the seamless delivery of shared services alongside professional and academic colleagues.
You will also have:
- Completion of a tertiary qualification in career development with subsequent relevant experience, or a combination of a degree and related experience.
- Knowledge and experience in delivering graduate recruitment or employability events/programs.
- Strong planning and organisational skills in scheduling activities and identifying opportunities while working to strategic direction to deliver and measure timely results.
- Strong innovation and problem-solving skills with the ability to propose and implement results-based solutions;

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. The position is based within the Student and Academic Services team, part of the Faculty Secretariat. This team provides comprehensive support to prospective and current students, including course information and advice, administration of course and subject processes, and coordination of initiatives such as transition, orientation, student experience, experiential learning, industry engagement, and learning support services.
